Prem mandir, which is also known as the temple of divine love is the icon of modernism of the spiritualism and temple cult of Hinduism. Situated in the holy city of Vrindavan, the temple is known for its grandiose architecture, design and spiritualism propagated by Sant Kripalu ji Maharaj.

History of Prem Mandir

Ii is said that when Kripalu Ji Maharaj, a well known spiritual guru was about 24 years of age, he vowed to build a grand temple in Vrindavan. With few of his selected friends he visited the contemprary temples in Vrindavan.   Shri Maharaj ji was inspired by the grandiose of Rang Ji Temple.

Ultimately, the foundation stone was laid by Shri Kripalu Ji Maharaj in the presence of thousand devotees on 14 January 2001.The grand temple was constructed in about 12 years. Almost one thousand skilled artists to give Prem Mandir it’s special shape and design. The intricate work of the temple was performed using chisels and hammers to engrave special inlays . Computerized robotic machines were used to give shape to stones; replicating the lilas of Shri Radha Krishna. Such specialized machinery had not  been used anywhere in India Before, it is believed.

Architecture of Prem Mandir

Prem Mandir is a religious and spiritual complex situated on a 54-acre site in the town of Vrindavan. The grand temple is dedicated to deities Radha Krishna and Sita Ram.The dimensions of the temple including its flag is 125 ft. high, 190 ft. long and the 128 ft. wide raised platform serves as the seat of the two-storeyed sparkling white monument.

The prem Mandir is known as a revolutionary concept  in contemporary school of  Indian art and architecture. Italian marble is used thoroughly in the complex. With its intricate carvings, the display of nice craftsmanship and the exhaustive inlay work is displayed with precious stones.  The temple is a unique spiritual structure in and around Vrindavan.

A circumambulation route has been constructed on the mandir prangan, the platform of the temple, enabling visitors to appreciate the beauty of the 48 panels depicting the pastimes of Shri Radha Krishna which are carved on the outer walls of the temple. The walls are made of solid Italian marble, 3.25 ft. thick. The thickness of the walls of the garbha-griha is 8 ft and can easily bear the weight of huge shikhar, swarna Kalash and the Flag. 84 panels set up on the temple’s exterior display the loving pastimes of Shri Krishna depicted on Shrimad Bhagvatam.

The Prem Mandir is also known for its display of colourful lighting in the evening with matching musical fountains. The group of people usually visit more in the evening at the time of aarti with beautiful lighting arrangements.

  • 5:15 a.m. – Jagran pad
  • 5:30 a.m. – Radha Krishn Aarti, Shri Ram Stuti & Darshan
  • 6:30 a.m. – Bhog Offering & geet (food offering to Deities and song)
  • 8:30 a.m. – Darshan & arti
  • 11:30 a.m.- Bhog Offering
  • 12:00 noon – Shayan Aarti and Door Closed
  • 4:30 p.m. – Darshan & Aarti,
  • 5:30 p.m. – Bhog offering & geet,
  • 8:00 p.m. – Shayan Aarti,
  • 8:15 p.m. – Door Closed

Musical Fountain

  • Evening 7:00 to 7:30 p.m.
